Special FIFe Titles

Distinguished Merit (DM)

The most prestigious title for any breeder to obtain is that of Distinguished Merit.  It indicates the breeding quality of a cat and is quite hard to obtain.

For a male cat it is necessary for at least ten of his offspring to have obtained the titles International Champion or International Premier and for a female cat, at least five of her offspring to obtain the same number of titles.

It is ony valid for FIFe registered titles and in order to claim this title the owner of the cat in question must send proof of these titles to their registering club.

The letters “DM” are placed after the name of the cat on its pedigree and in any official mention of its name.  Felis Britannica offers a special trophy for such an achievement.

Distinguished Show Merit (DSM)

If you have a cat, either an entire adult or a neuter, which has won the title of “Best in Show” a minimum of ten times at International Shows, and provided a period of at least two years and one day has elapsed between the first BIS and the tenth, you can claim the title of DSM.  This title will be placed behind the cat’s name on its pedigree and in any official mention of its name.

To claim the title, you should send all the relevant Certificate of Award cards to your club for validation.  As this is a very prestigious award, Felis Britannica awards a special trophy for this achievement.

Junior Winner (JW)

This title is available to a cat which has been awarded a “Best in Show” in the classes 11 (Junior) and 12 (Kitten) a minimum of five times at international times.

The title is claimed in the same way as the DSM and again, Felis Britannica awards a special trophy for this achievement.
